Dear Fellow Golfer, What I am about to do, in a logical and brief manner, is to explain to you the how's and why's of the Count Yogi "Platform to Perfection Golf System"™ It is a study and science of the mind, an infallible mental routine, which is the elliptical swing arc. I will show you how it can and will produce long-lasting, simpler and more consistent results (see fig. 2 ) than what is still commonly taught today the mental or physical clock swing arc (see Fig. l) which is a study of the body and its parts and segmented positions within the swing. Keep in mind that it takes less than 2 seconds between the back swing and the ball being struck. Now let us together take a closer look and make some comparisons between these two different types of swings. There is only one thing that can go wrong with a golf swing: the arc. And basically, there are three things that can cause it. First is the lack of skill and judgement, which no one can teach. Skill comes only with time and practice. Second is deviation and excessive movement of the fulcrum or pivot point. In Fig. 1, the pivot point is the left shoulder for right handers, and in Fig. 2, it is the head. Any movement of the pivot point during the execution of the backswing changes and breaks down your arc. Third and last, but not least, is when you break the wrist, which is to flop down the clubhead at the top of the backswing. This also ruins and breaks down your arc. When you do this, you immediately increase required personal skill level to perform the shot properly and also increase the level and the required skill degree of the swing arc and being able to perform it with the most simplicity. In other words, "Double Trouble" for he golfer. I have talked with many pros, most of them insisting on being indifferent to simplicity. But we all agreed to this one thing: that tournament pros and low handicappers have 80%-90% personal skill ability and 20%-10% luck when they're ON their game. The average golfer who possesses anywhere from 40%-50% personal skill plays with 60%-50% luck!
Notice in Fig. 1, the ball is played in the center or back nearer to the rear foot. This was, in theory, to establish making pinching contact with the ball before punching the ground or turf. Look at the arc (clubhead path). Notice the clubhead's distance from the ground and the very little time it has before contact with the ball. This is why this type of swing takes 80%-90% personal skill ability to perform correctly, why average golfers will never improve, and why pros can practice a lot and still be haunted by inconsistency. Now let us look at the swing arc of the Count Yogi style of swing shown in Fig. 2. Notice the arc (clubhead path) of this swing, the clubhead's distance from the ground and the time allowed before contact with the ball. The clubhead is nearer to the ground sooner and longer, allowing the golfer more time and room for error. This is why this type of swing takes and demands only 60%-70% personal skill ability to perform correctly. So if a golfer for example who possesses 50% personal skill ability, he or she immediately receives a 20%-30% advantage over the traditional way's required skill demanded to execute the shot correctly. This, in essence, means INSTANT LOWER SCORES without having any more time to practice than you do now, and continually lower scores if you have the additional time to invest in practicing the Count Yogi style. For the pro golfer, this would mean greatness, consistency, and a much lengthier and fruitful career. "Remember, practice makes perfect only if you practice with perfect conception." Now if you look at the tracer line of Count Yogi's swing in the photo shown you will notice that there are minor deviations from a perfect elliptical arc. This is because it is "boneless and musclelessly loose and fluent." There will also be variations from person to person because we all have different builds and sizes even though we would all be playing mentally identical with the Count Yogi method. By the way, this photo of Count Yogi is over 40 years old. It was taken by United Press International for a feature story and the cover of Count Yogi's third hardcover book back in the 60's. But we have in our film archives shots of him swinging the same identical way in the 1920s to 1990 right before his death. It was a sad tragedy that back in those early days, the Count, with his God-given gift of wisdom and understanding of this 21st century-type swing, was refused and kept out of national tournaments because of indifference despite his consistent sub-par and record shattering scores. I have noticed though that in recent years, golf swings have been slowly evolving towards the Count Yogi method. Some individuals and companies have actually even tried to lay claim to originality and profit from our elliptical arc style through physical theories, gadgets, machines, implements, mechanical equipment, body feel memory, etc. But believe you me, there is more than enough proof that Count Yogi is the originator. And the only way you can acquire this elliptical swing arc and be able to maintain and keep it, is through the knowledge and science of the mind, "an infallible mental routine" taught through the Count Yogi "Platform to Perfection Golf System™" Kit.
